Introduction

RecoverLinux is a free tool for Windows that will create a bootable USB drive that contains FreeDos and Linux, all in one click and under 2.5Mb! The USB drive can still be used for files, and is useful as an emergency recovery tool. Check the Official Home Page for the most up to date information.

  • RecoveryLinux.zip (2502kb) - A zip file which contains the neccesary tools to create a bootable FreeDos+Linux USB drive from Windows.

    How to create the bootable USB disk

  • Insert the USB disk, and ensure there is nothing on there you need (all data on the USB disk will be wiped)
  • Download RecoveryLinuz.zip and unzip to a directory, then run Install.bat
  • Select which drive letter the USB disk is on (this is shown in My Computer)

    How to run the USB disk

  • Insert the USB disk
  • Restart the computer
  • If the computer is set to load from the hard drive before the USB disk you will need to enter BIOS setup (normally by pressing Delete or F12 at startup) and change the boot order.
  • If succesful you will be shown a menu of tools you can load
